Introducing Myself

I know it seems cheesy to do an “Into Post” since there is an about me page, but I wanted the opportunity to share more about me and more about why I created this blog and share some interesting tidbits about me. Sure, there are many blogs out there that talk about triathlons, endurance events, and even talk about being an Athena athlete. (For those that don’t know, the Athena competitive divisions are based on weight minimums outlined in the USA Triathlon Competitive Rules. Athletes competing in the Athena division must be a minimum of 165 pounds.)

When I decided to create this blog, I wanted this blog to be more than just another triathlon blog. I want to share my journey in the world of endurance sports; I want to share the struggles I had feeling like I didn’t fit in, the struggles I had with food, all the victories I have had, as well as everything in between. I want this blog to be a source of inspiration for someone who felt like they never fit in, inspire someone to try something new, or share information about triathlons to someone who is looking to get into triathlons.

In addition to the stories and information I plan to share with you on this blog, I plan to share playlists that I have curated in a series called Music Mondays. Since music has the power to inspire & motivate us, it only seems fitting to share music that inspires and motivates me with my readers.

Interesting Fact: Music has been an important part of my life, and while I did study music in high school, I ultimately decided not to major in it college but instead marry a musician.

In my journey to repair my relationship with food – I learned how much I enjoy cooking, trying out new recipes, and trying out new foods. I thought this blog would be a great place to share these recipes I try, new foods I try, and show how to fuel my body and yours with real foods in a series called Food Fridays.

I can go on and talk about this blog and all the exciting things I have planned to share, but I will wait and share all that exciting stuff in the coming months. For those who don’t know me well – I decided to gather fifty get-to-know-you questions off of the Internet and answer them for my readers. I hope you enjoy them and feel free to reach out with any questions or if you want to learn more about me.

What is your favorite Food?

Sushi, hands down

What color is your tooth brush?


If you could be any animal what would it be and why?

Cat – how can you not want to lounge around 15 hours a day?

What is one of the things you would put on your “bucket” list?

Travel – with COVID I have missed traveling to visit new places or see friends

If a movie was made of your life what genre would it be, who would play you?

Probably a comedy or romantic comedy and I would be played by Rebel Wilson.

What is your dream job?

Either a librarian or a registered dietician

Are you a morning or a night person?

Morning – it is a challenge being married to a night person

Determined, Strong, Positive

What is the first thing you do when you get up in the morning?

Tell Alexa to stop (she is my alarm clock)

What is your biggest addiction?

Reality TV

Have you ever tried to do something you know you would be really bad at, what was it?

My friend tried to teach me how to do the butterfly stroke (here is a link if you are not familiar with it) – When I tried to do the stroke – a lifeguard thought I was having a seizure in the water and tried to rescue me. It was that moment that I will not be like Michael Phelps.

How long does it take you to get ready in the morning?

If I am going into the office – usually 30-45 minutes but when I am working at home 15 minutes.

If you were stranded on a tropical island what 2 things would you want with you?

Sunscreen & books

What was your favorite book growing up?

Anne of Green Gables and Gone with the Wind

What product would you refuse to promote?

Diet products

Use one word to describe your computer ability?

Techsavvy (yea – I made that word up)

What fashion trend do you just not get into?

Crop tops

What have you done that you are most proud of?

Completing the Disney Dopey Challenge. Running 48.6 miles over 4 days was not only physically challenging for someone that is not a strong runner but also mentally challenging.

How old where you when you had the worst hair cut ever what style was it?

I don’t remember how old I was but I know I was in grade school but I got my hair cut short and then got it permed. Yes – I looked like little orphan Annie.

What advice did you get that was the most rewarding?

“Be proud of who you are and all that you have accomplished”

What is your favorite type of music?

I like all types of music – I have everything from Opera to Heavy Metal on my Spotify App

How do you like your steak cooked?

Blue Rare

What was the last film you watched?

Just started watching Rocketman while I was on the trainer. Before that – I had just finished The Greatest Showman

Where would you visit, if you had the chance?

Asia – Singapore is on my travel bucket list

What do you think of people with tattoos?

They are pretty awesome

How do you define happiness?

Being content with your life and living your life to the fullest

Where were you last year?

At home getting ready to head to Florida to run the Gasperilla Distance Classic with my running buddies.

What time do you go to bed?

I usually go to bed between 8:30-9 pm and usually fall asleep around 9:30 – 10 pm.

What is your favorite summer activity?

I know this is vague – but just being outside! Love going to outdoor concerts, the drive in, having dinner outside with family and friends, watching fireworks.

If you could go anywhere in the world where would you go and why?

Iceland – that is the next destination on me and my husband’s bucket list

What is your favorite hobby?

Next to triathlons – reading and sewing.

What is the strangest thing you’ve ever eaten?

I tried escargot – not a fan.

What is your favorite thing about someone in your family?

My husband – he can always make me laugh

What is your favorite movie quote?

How many books have you read so far this year?

I am behind here but I have not finished a book yet this year. I am currently reading The Bigamist: The True Story of a Husband's Ultimate Betrayal (Her second book is on Amazon First Reads, so wanted to read the first book before I started the second one)

What is the worst job you have had?

Working in a breast pump factory in assembly and quality control

What is the thing your most afraid of?


What is the most interesting thing you have in your purse/wallet?

A lock – it is for the gym as they don’t provide locks for the lockers

What is the one thing you have always wanted to do?

Surf – never got a chance to take surfing lessons in Hawaii. I did take paddle boarding lessons though!

What supply in your house is running low?

Probably paper towels – we go through so much with the pandemic.

What is your best feature?

My eyes

What is one food you wouldn’t want to give up?

Not necessarily a food, but can’t and won’t give up carbs

If you could talk in your sleep what would you say?

Probably going over my to do lists

Where is the worst place you could get stuck?

Airport with limited amenities

If you could teach any grade or subject what would it be?

College level class on project management

Who is your favorite super hero and why?

Deadpool – how can you not love a sarcastic super hero?
